Our privacy policy

This website is developed and operated by researchers at University Grenoble Alpes (hereafter referred to as our organisation). This privacy policy will explain how our organization uses the personal data we collect from you when you use our website.

What data do we collect?

Our organisation collects the following data:

  • Personal identification information: email address (used as an identifier for the login information, or to send an invitation to take part to an anonymous poll)
  • User of and voter nicknames, poll information (title, description, candidate names, creation date)

How do we collect your data?

We collect data and process data only when you:

  • Create an account online.
  • Create a poll.
  • Participate to a poll as a voter.

We do not indirectly collect data from any other source.

How will we use your data?

Our organisation collects your data so that we can:

  • Process the polls you create and manage your account.
  • Process your vote when you choose to participate to a poll.
  • Email you when you are invited to participate to an anonymous poll.

If you agree with this privacy policy, part of the data we collect about your polls might be provided on this website as a free dataset under ODbL 1.0 license, after careful anonymization. More precisely, the dataset provided only contains the list of all polls created in the system, restricted, for each poll, to the following information:

  • Random identifier
  • Poll type (date vs classic)
  • Number of candidates to elect (for multiwinner polls)
  • Ballot type
  • List of candidates with names replaced by anonymous identifiers, associated vote, and prices for participatory budgeting settings

How do we store your data?

We securely store your data at IMAG Datacenter located at the IMAG Building. This datacenter is operated by GRICAD, and the machine on which the data concerning Whale5 is stored is operated by LIG.

Your data will be stored with no time limit.

Marketing

Our organisation is not for marketing purpose. We only do research. Hence, your data will never be used to send you information about products or services, neither by us or by any other partner that we may know of.

What are your data protection rights?

Our organisation would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:

The right to access – You have the right to request our organization for copies of your personal data. We may charge you a small fee for this service.

The right to rectification – You have the right to request that our organization correct any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request our organization to complete the information you believe is incomplete.

The right to erasure – You have the right to request that our organization erase your personal data, under certain conditions.

The right to restrict processing – You have the right to request that our organization restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.

The right to object to processing – You have the right to object to our organization’s processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.

The right to data portability – You have the right to request that our organization transfer the data that we have collected to another organization, or directly to you, under certain conditions.
